Several attempts have been made to unite our fellow bus owners and bring the transport community together under one roof, with a common agenda to fight for our rights. However, most of these attempts either failed or simply could not sustain the overwhelming resistance and pressures, be it political or personal, with a major issue arising from the fact that our community has been perceived as a competitor to the State Transport Undertaking of Maharashtra.  It was in 2009 however, when two of our fellow bus owners, took on the responsibility and founded the “Mumbai Bus Malak Sangathana”. It was an association formed with the intention to loop in like-minded bus owners, and became the building blocks of an umbrella organisation for all bus owners in the MMR to put forward their grievances, feel a sense of camaraderie in our industry, and grow together.  The last 12 years have been challenging no doubt, with our entire industry having faced major ups and downs, but it has been our constant effort to jointly resolve issues and be there for each other.  I, Harsh Kotak, am honoured to be able to serve my brethren, by performing my duties as the General Secretary of our organisation, and I pledge to resolve as many issues as possible to the best of my abilities. 

The only organization in the state that maintains its flag and stands firm in the bus industry of the country. The journey of the association started from 2009, with bus owner members who can be counted on the fingers and today the association has more than 400 members. The organization helps and has given honest guidance to the bus owners by understanding their problems. Many times some people try to divide the organization but the bus owners have strong faith in the office bearers of the organization and the opposition is dusted off. Through the organization, various activities are implemented in the city of Mumbai under the road safety campaign, such as guidance to drivers, health check up camps, and blood donation camp. I am lucky to be a part of the organization.

As a MBMS we are a family committed to help each other (our fellow transporter) in every walks of life be it an administration issues like tax concession, Natural disasters like floods or Pandemic like Corona, RTO harassment we fight for the cause under one umbrella. I'm proud to be the part of the family and pledge to strive for the betterment till my last breath for my brethren.

An Association is formed with a basic intention of WELFARE AND WELL BEING of all its members and to achieve A COMMON GOAL. MBMS too was formed with this intention way back in the year 2009 by its founder members, which has Bloomed today to more than 400 plus active members. It is also Delights to see MBMS has spread its wings from its initial MUMBAI region to entire MMRDA regions. Been associated closely with MBMS., I have seen the Respect and Rapport our association has achieved in all Government departments and RTO offices; within a short span of 12 years, which no other associations in the same sector haven’t received, despite of their presence for decades. Every individual members’ difficulty is always taken up with the concerned authority to find a proper solution for the same. One of MBMS’s greatest achievement was Granting of MMRDA Region permit for buses plying in the region bringing a huge relief to thousands of Bus owners from applying for daily permits. MBMS gained accolades in getting waiver of Fitness penalty, Allocation of Parking spaces in BEST Depot within Mumbai city, Also MBMS had a big role in getting Vahaan portal activated in Maharashtra, hence, many RTO related jobs of Bus owners can be easily done by just clicking the mouse in their offices. Office bearers of MBMS has been regularly in communication with the authorities for followups and raising objections if any, towards Govt. Notifications. It also gladdens to see MBMS has not only restricted to the welfare of its members but also extends a helping hand to the Government authorities in times of troubles and pain. MBMS contributed financially and distributed various items to the flood affected victims of Kerala and Kolhapur. On numerous occasions at the call of Govt officers our members supplied free bus services to accident victims and also during strikes called by BEST / MSRTC employees. Every year during Road Safety Week of Govt of Maharashtra, MBMS conducts one day programme in every RTO office of MMRDA region, Blood donation camp, Free Eye + Dental + BP checkup for all is carried out, Experts are invited to Train Bus drivers and apprise them about Safe Driving Tips, Fire safety etc.. MBMS also cares for its Members staff, Free medical help, Counselling is extended to our Needy drivers and support staff. During the recent Pandemic MBMS played an active role in convincing the Govt. to waive off Taxes and Insurance of buses for the days of Lockdown, Appeals were made to Finance co’s, for deferment and Re-structing of Loan EMI’s, bringing a huge sigh of relief to the already financially battered bus owners. Members from MBMS tirelessly worked hard and successfully in partnership with BOCI conducted 2 editions of PRAWAAS in Mumbai, which as well accepted and appreciated by all Pan India. MBMS has achieved a lot in a short span of its existence. Yet MBMS has lot of promises and miles to go in achieving many Goals. Lets us all strive to be together and united in supporting our Leaders.
